A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A GRANTS MANAGER As a Grants Manager, you are responsible for assisting with monitoring grant activity and compliance requirements. Your work typically involves Identifying grant sources for projects which require supplemental funding. You design and implement strategy for obtaining grants applicable to government entities. Writing, editing, and managing grant proposals and projects within required parameters and period of performance generally fill up your day. Your job is essential to the city, and you monitor compliance, timelines, and development of projects and budgets. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include attending conferences and trainings to gain additional grant industry best practices.
You identify grant requirements, to include reporting, local match ratio, documentation retention, etc. You confer with Department and Finance to ensure local match requirement is available. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem aiding and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with skills in leadership, grants, and you find genuine enjoyment in what you do!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A GRANTS MANAGER - Requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Public Administration, English, Business, Communications, or related field.
- Educational substitute: Six (6) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Requires three (3) years of experience in related work experience in grant writing
- Experience preference: Five (5) years of experience in related work experience in grant writing
- Must have a current and valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety
